Human Factors and Ergonomics for Design

Our Foundation

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Design (HFED) Lab is established under the leadership of Principal Investigator Dr. Swati Pal with commitment to enhancing well-being through interdisciplinary research. From its inception, the lab has been dedicated to understanding the complex relationships between people and products, and their engagements and interactions addressing real-world challenges. The lab fosters a vibrant, collaborative research environment comprising graduate students, postgraduate researchers, PhD scholars and postdoctoral researchers, all working on various projects that span the spectrum of human factors and ergonomics. We believe that exceptional design emerges by establishing interdisciplinary approach bridging multiple domains of knowledge and expertise.

Our Vision

HFED's vision is to set the benchmark in human-centered design research by

Our Vision

Optimizing human-system interaction by integrating biomechanics, cognition, and design to create excellence in human experiences.

What Do We Do
at HFED Lab?

In HFED, we focus on analyzing, modelling and enhancing the interface designs catering human based interactions. Our lab enables multimodal research by seamlessly integrating various physiological sensors across various environments, including lab setup, real-world settings and simulations. We integrate several software platforms including eye-tracking systems, affective computing tools, galvanic skin response (GSR) sensors, and electroencephalography (EEG) equipment. Unifying these technologies provides us with a comprehensive and robust research setup for human behavioural studies and postural assessments. We remain committed to diverse stakeholders from academic collaborators, healthcare institutions, government agencies, community organisations and industry partners, to translate research into meaningful solutions that enhance safety, comfort and social engagements for all.
